Café d’Anvers: A Legendary Nightclub in the Heart of Antwerp

Our first stop on Sunday morning brought us to Café d’Anvers, located in the heart of Antwerp’s red-light district on Verversrui. Known as a true icon in the Belgian clubbing scene, Café d’Anvers has attracted countless visitors since its opening in 1989. While our initial plan was to meet with contacts from Club Elegance (formerly Cherrymoon) earlier in the day, the meeting didn’t work out. So, we headed over to Café d’Anvers, eager to see this legendary venue for ourselves.

Despite our best efforts to arrange an appointment with the club’s management, we didn’t receive a response. So, in true adventurous spirit, we decided to pay a spontaneous visit, hoping for a chance to look inside. Arriving at Verversrui, we couldn’t help but feel a little out of place with our cameras in the red-light district early on a Sunday. With locals going about their day and others busy at work, we discreetly snapped a quick photo of the iconic Café d’Anvers façade, careful to respect the neighborhood.

This iconic club needs no introduction. Café d’Anvers has been a staple in Antwerp’s nightlife for over three decades, drawing fans from around the world. Although we weren’t able to step inside, visiting Café d’Anvers left us with a deeper appreciation for its history and influence. For decades, this club has been a driving force in Antwerp’s nightlife, and it’s clear why it has earned such an esteemed reputation. From its captivating atmosphere to its impressive lineup of events, Café d’Anvers remains a top destination for clubbers worldwide.
